Knight Foundation grants $750K for North End internet access
The gap in internet access for families across the city was brought to the forefront during the pandemic. The digital divide made it difficult for many to access current news, school, work, and job opportunities. The Knight Foundation, whose focus in Detroit is in the North End community, is granting $750,000 to the North End Woodward Community Coalition, which will bring access to nearly 215 households in the neighborhood. New exhibit celebrates black architects
Minority architects only make up two percent of architects, with Black women making up less than half of one percent. One of the aims of the National Organization of Minority Architects (NOMA) is to bring the work of minority architects to the forefront, creating awareness for young people to go into the profession. A new exhibit, "Say It Loud: NOMA 50th Exhibition" is now open at the Detroit Historical Museum. The exhibit includes artifacts, audio/visual, and examples of work from Black architects over the past 50 years. Detroit News
Selling extra rooms in new condos
A few months ago, we featured CODA, a new development in Brush Park that has gone into pre-sale. One of the features of the yet-to-be-built development is the option for an extra room outside of the condo. The pandemic has left many feeling the need for that extra space for a gym or office, so why not add that amenity for buyers? They are selling, and we could see a move from community spaces to individual spaces in future developments. Crain's Detroit Business
