We have new details and a new rendering of a major, but quiet, development along the Detroit Riverfront. The 25-story tower under construction at the Joe Louis Arena site will be called the Residences at Water Square and they'll start pre-leasing this summer.

Sterling Group is leading the development, which will bring 496 market-rate residential units to the riverfront. Some of the amenities listed on their new site include:

  • Floor-to-ceiling windows (as it's Detroit's first all-glass residential tower)
  • An all-seasons pool with a sun deck
  • Pet wash & grooming station
  • First floor market and patio
  • A rooftop terrace and sky lounge

According to Crain's, pre-leasing is expected to start this summer, with move-in available in February 2024.

This area will look completely different in the next few years. In addition to the residential tower going up, a large hotel is expected on the site, which sits next to the Huntington Place convention center. Plans have also included an office building on the site, but no details about that have been released. On the other side of Riverfront Towers, the Detroit Riverfront Conservancy is building the 22-acre Ralph C. Wilson Centennial Park, which is expected to be completed in 2024.
