A seven-story building along Michigan Avenue in Corktown, between downtown and Michigan Central, is now open. Perennial Corktown brings nearly 200 new residential units to the neighborhood.
The development was led by Hunter Pasteur, the Forbes Company, and Oxford Capital Group. 188 apartments are in the large building on Michigan Ave., while another seven townhouses sit behind them. 10% of the units are listing as affordable for those making up to 60% Area Median Income.
A large parking structure was also built off Trumbull, and construction recently started on adapting a vacant building into 28 more residential units -- the Red Arrow Lofts.
Two new businesses are opening in the development, with another to be named soon. Haraz Coffee brings Yemeni coffee, beverages, and space to get together to the neighborhood. Corktown Market will have groceries and prepared foods.
“We are grateful for the support of the community, our partners, and the city” said Randy Werthheimer, CEO of Hunter Pasteur. “We are proud of the project so far, and truly feel that the neighborhood input we received has led to a stronger final product. “We want Perennial Corktown to be the viewed as the gold standard of how developers and community can work together.”
Perennial Corktown also has amenities like a fitness center, dog wash, bike storage, EV charging, and a chef's kitchen. It will also have a 10,000-square-foot pool deck with seating, fire pits, and club rooms.
The developers completed the nearby Godfrey Hotel last summer, which adds another 227 hotel rooms to the neighborhood.
