Here are a few of the stories we're reading as we head in to spring.
New DDOT transit center named
A new bus terminal is set to open May 11 at 8 Mile and Woodward. It will be named after Jason Hargrove, a Detroit bus driver who spoke up about the dangers to transit workers in the early days of Covid; he tragically died from Covid just a couple weeks later. The new transit center will have 11 bays for both DDOT and SMART buses and sits near the new Amazon fulfillment center in the former Dairy Cattle building at the State Fairgrounds. Axios Detroit
Hotel rooms scarce for the draft
Still looking for a place to stay if you're coming from out of town for the NFL Draft? It's a little late to be looking, but you might be able to scrounge up a room or two (of the nearly 6,000 downtown) for some $$. The Free Press found one or two available at a few hotels downtown (over $500 per night), with some available in Corktown and New Center. If you really need a place to stay, you could call a hotel to see if there's anything open, get on a waitlist, search Airbnb or Vrbo, or look into the suburbs. Detroit Free Press

Opening Day is right around the corner (April 5) and Comerica Park has undergone about $30 million in upgrades this offseason. Fans will see a huge scoreboard (2nd largest in the MLB), as well as better TVs and audio around the concourse. Upgrades to the players clubhouse include better training facilities and renovated areas for both players and coaches. Additional upgrades will continue as the Tigers look to improve their record after quite a few less-than-stellar seasons. Crain's Detroit Business
