A new housing development in the Riverbend neighborhood of Detroit recently completed construction. Xavier Square will offer 14 apartments at "deeply affordable" rates to those with disabilities.
Project-based vouchers will ensure that residents will pay no more than 30% of their income on housing and utilities, through the Detroit Housing Commission. Xavier Square has 12 one-bedroom apartments and two two-bedroom units.
The project is led by Nova Development. Central City Health will offer supportive services for qualified residents.

Funding for the $5.4 million project came from a variety of sources, including $1.8 million in federal HOME funds, $179,000 in Community Development Block Grant funding through the city’s Housing & Revitalization Department (HRD), funding through the Michigan State Housing Development Authority, and land purchased through the Detroit Land Bank Authority.
