Detroit's vibrant art scene will be on display across hotels and public spaces in the form of giant painted cleats this April. DCLEATED is part of City Walls Detroit, but instead of murals, the cleats are the canvases this time.

20 Detroit artists were picked through an open call process for the project. The cleats were fabricated by Detroit-based Prop Art Studios and clear coated by Detroit-based Double Jay’s Collision. The artists each chose a charity, and the cleats will go up for auction benefiting these nonprofits starting at the beginning of April and concluding after the draft.

"The project has connected artists and stakeholders through art that reflects their energy, celebrates Detroit's talent, and amplifies local causes. Connecting with the artists and meeting the passionate leaders behind these causes is an experience that'll inform our community engagement going forward,” said City Walls Project Manager Bethany Howard. “Artists inspire with their work, and the entire process has already fostered collaboration and community spirit.”

Expect to see the cleats on display at hotels across downtown, including the casinos, Westin Book Cadillac, Shinola, and the Detroit Foundation Hotel. The cleats will also be at Ford Field, Capitol Park, both terminals at DTW, and the Coleman A. Young Airport, which is expected to see a lot of private jet traffic for the draft.

The 2024 NFL Draft will be in Detroit April 25-27.
