Detroit's new development tracker

Trying to stay on top of all the development happening in Detroit? (Same.) Bookmark this site. This week, Detour Detroit released their Detroit Development Tracker, a Reynolds Journalism Institute fellowship project by Detour cofounder Kate Abbey-Lambertz and civic engineer Jimmy McBroom. The tracker includes development projects underway in the city as of 2022, and users can search in the map or through entering an address. Information includes the developer, project, timeline, funding, and links to past articles. They are currently testing it out and looking for feedback. Take some time this weekend to look around. Henry Ford Health System's neighborhood investment

DBusiness reports that Henry Ford Health System, along with development partners, plan to spend $4.2 billion in the area around its Detroit campus over the next two decades. This could include medical and research facilities, housing, mixed-use buildings, retail, and green space. There aren't many details revealed, but they note a research facility in partnership with Michigan State University that's in the design phase. There's been significant investment in the area in recent years including the expansion of the nearby Motown Museum and redevelopment of Lee Plaza.

A historic theater near downtown for sale

The Fine Arts Building along Woodward in Brush Park is for sale or lease. It hosted some parties in the 2000s, but has sat empty for a while; the seats are gone but the stage remains. It could be a great spot for a music venue or club, but potential buyers should note that there is a history of some unsolved murders associated with the building.
