We all have June 6 marked on our calendars for the grand reopening of Michigan Central. But if you don't get an invite that day, no worries. Grand opening events are scheduled through June 16.
The Detroit News reports that the team at Michigan Central presented plans to City Council today for permits for the events.
After an initial media tour and Michigan Central Children's Endowment event, there will be a free concert on June 6 for 15,000 people (which will also be streamed globally). Artists have not been announced yet. Tours will then run daily until June 16. Michigan Central is expecting 60,000 people to tour the rehabbed train station.
Open houses will continue through the summer on Fridays and Saturdays.

Ford has been working on restoring Michigan Central Station for the past six years. The station closed in 1988. It sat vacant for decades, and for a long time was a symbol of decay and how far the city had fallen.
