Finally, a new rendering has been released of the residential tower going up at the former Joe Louis Arena site. First reported by the Detroit Free Press, the rendering is on a site for 600 Associates, the LLC given for the project from the developer, the Sterling Group.

Construction has been underway at the site for a while now, and this building should be completed in 2024. The 25-story tower will hold 500 apartments. Additional buildings on this property (not in the rendering) will house hotel and office space.

Despite this being such a high-visibility property, we haven't seen many visuals or heard a lot of details from Sterling Group. The site was part of the bankruptcy deal with the city, and Sterling Group acquired the site in 2019.

From the rendering, we can see a glass tower overlooking the Detroit River, with the People Mover along its route, and a great lawn next to the building, along with more trees. The building looks like it has a rooftop asset, which would be a strong addition to the riverfront - whether it's a key amenity to residents or open as a space for the public.

We'll bring you more information as it comes out.
