If you're downtown this weekend, you'll hear something you haven't heard in a while. The People Mover starts service today, after shutting down over two years ago at the start of the pandemic. And for the first 90 days, the service is free.
But don't expect to get on or off at every station; the elevated tram will be making limited stops for at least the first few weeks. They expect to add more as we move into summer. The first phase of stations open give easy access to summer events at Hart Plaza, Tigers games, and Huntington Place. For now, it will stop at:
- Michigan
- Huntington Place (Convention Center)
- West Riverfront (formerly Joe Louis Arena)
- Millender Center
- Greektown
- Grand Circus Park
Noticeably missing is the RenCen, where many offices remain closed or limited.
Hours will run:
- Monday – Friday: 7:00 a.m. – 7:00 p.m
- Saturday: 10:00 a.m. – 10:00 p.m.
- Sunday: Closed
The People Mover will run counter-clockwise. Face masks aren't required, but are recommended.
