The Eddystone redevelopment (finally) moving along

Next to the Little Caesars Arena, the redevelopment of the Eddystone should have been completed a few years ago. Crain's reports that Olympia Development is currently meeting their milestones, and should have a certificate of occupancy by the end of the year. When it's completed, the Eddystone will bring 92 apartments in the middle of the District Detroit. It will be the first completed residential component of the district; many more have been announced, but many haven't been started or completed.

Local businesses coming to Meijer on East Jefferson

Another project that's taking shape is the long-awaited Meijer on East Jefferson -- sans the residential piece. This store will include a Mudgie's Deli and a Great Lakes Coffee shop, along with other local products. The 42,00-square-foot new Meijer, called Rivertown Market, will be in a small format like a few other stores (see the Woodward Corner Market in Royal Oak). Construction started on the project in 2020, and is expected to be completed this year. It sits adjacent to the Lafayette Park neighborhood, just east of downtown.

Update on Woodbridge townhome project

A large townhome development in Woodbridge is moving forward. The Towns @ Scripps Park will have 64 new  townhomes at the Scripps Mansion site at Trumbull, Brainerd, and Selden. The Power House will be converted into a single residential unit. The venture between Tekton Development LLC, Civic Companies LLC, and Robertson Bros. is seeking $2.36 million in Brownfield funding, according to Crain's. The townhomes will be divided into 16 1,624-square-foot, two-to- three bedroom units with two enclosed parking spaces, and 48 16-foot-wide, 1,349-square-foot two bedroom units with one enclosed parking space. 4545 Architecture is leading the design. The development will also include a large public green space along Trumbull.
