We'll see a lot of big developments open in Corktown this year, from Michigan Central to the Godfrey Hotel. Right on their heels will be a seven-story apartment building currently under construction along Michigan Avenue across from the old Tiger Stadium. Perennial Corktown, led by Oxford Capital Group, the Forbes Company, and Hunter Pasteur Homes, topped off earlier this week according to the developers.
The development will bring 188 studio, one- and two-bedroom apartments, along with seven 3-bedroom townhomes. Pre-leasing will start on these this spring. The development also includes a three-story parking garage and 12,000 square feet of retail space.
The first signed tenant is Corktown Market, which will have groceries, a deli, and a coffee bar across 2,033-square-feet. It's set to open with the rest of the development this fall.
“With Corktown’s rich history, increasing visibility, and growing popularity in Downtown Detroit, we are thrilled to join the thriving community of businesses and look forward to welcoming new residents and locals to the Perennial Corktown complex in 2023,” said John W. Rutledge, Founder, Chairman and CEO of Oxford Capital Group, LLC and Oxford Hotels & Resorts, LLC.
Just down Michigan Avenue, the Oxford and Hunter Pasteur are anticipating a Summer 2023 opening of the Godfrey Hotel, which will have 227 rooms, a 6,000-square-foot ballroom, and outdoor event space.
